No Warning Sign
All at once I tried to keep my ground,
all at once I felt it crashing down.
Emotional disaster,
it couldn't hit me any faster.
This is the part where we lose it all,
it all goes to hell and it breaks my heart to know
I never saw it coming.
Oh no no no because...
You don't come with a warning sign.
Telling me this is the line I should stay behind,
and there's no sign around your neck,
showing that last broken heart from your last wreck.
No warning sign... no warning sign.
All the moments where I felt my best,
no hungry soul just a heart at rest.
I thought I knew every side of you,
how could I ever have been so blind.
All those days turned years,
they don't seem to matter now.
I don't want to live
any piece of your lies.
Could any words try to mend this madness,
should I give in should I let you stay.
To only live but a heart break away,
I can't imagine I'd last one day.
BEHIND THE SONG
Now this song was just fun. Plain and simple. I got the initial idea from an old friend that was... well to be blunt... she was a heartbreaker and needed a warning sign of some sort. Writing this song, I always thought it had a little country music kick to it. I could picture different recording artists covering it and reworking in their own style. I really like the way we built it out in the studio, and the introduction of the strings toward the end really add to the intensity.
