the truth instead (ft. ivan Ives)

I take back the words I said
and I offer you the truth instead.
As I stand here upon this ledge,
would you lend me a friend and pledge to...

Hear me out?
Would you hear me out?
Could you hear me out?

You wipe the tears from my face,
let me hold you in this warm embrace.
And I'd like to open up and say,
it was me I always walked away.

Hear me out,
Would you hear me out?
Could you hear me out?

Your heart, ears taped up
because of those hard years
when you feared love.
You could be free now, see
I'm trying to show you how, together.
Light as a...we float like a...
Writer’s prose...
Even the lightest rose stings.
Whiter than the whitest snow,
but warm in the sun
all we have done,
is still with me even if you're iffy.
Undecided ornate ideals,
how did we end up so divided?
Hopeless tread words we've said,
let's focus on the truth instead.

You can have this heart.
You can own this soul.
In life or death,
don't you let me go.

I'd like to let the record show,
it was you and love that let me grow.
As I walk upon these fallen leaves,
you’re the air the light and all that breaths.

Hear me out,
Would you hear me out?
Could you hear me out?

I take back the words I said,
and I offer you the truth instead.

Behind the song

This song is about questioning faith, a constant struggle for me and so many. It is an outward apology for not being as faithful as I wish I could be and questioning everything all the time. 'Believing' is not easy, or logical for me. Replaced much of the piano with the Rhodes, it adds a great sentimental mellow touch. I always wanted a spoken word part before the bridge, and was stoked to have Ivan Ives provide a verse for this song.
